About Us


Traditional Sounds of Samba supplies real samba school instruments from Rio de Janeiro. All of our instruments are sourced from the factories and craftspeople who are the main suppliers to the top Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro, and the equipment we sell is constantly being field tested in the Baterias of the Rio samba schools.

*Our accessories are designed with the benefit of many years of experience in a highly competitive customer led market - the Rio samba schools.

*Our aim is to give you the opportunity to play on an instrument that makes the right sound for samba.

Traditional Sounds of Samba was formed in the year 2000. Our directors have, between them, 39 years of experience playing in and leading baterias (percussion orchestras) in samba schools in Rio de Janeiro, and 22 years of experience playing in UK and European samba bands. We continue to be actively involved in the management and music of samba bands in both Rio de Janeiro and the UK, and our first hand experience is reflected in the instruments, accessories, videos, gifts and CDs that we sell on these pages.
