18" Brazilian lightweight marching Surdo drum. Hardened Aluminium body with stainless steel fittings;
light weight, heavy duty.
Designed for hard samba school bateria use, Artcelsior style surdos are preferred in most Rio samba schools
because of their hardwearing build, their clear pure tone and their comparatively light weight; just over 5 kg
(approx). The Centrador is ideal for use as a third surdo. (the 'cutting' or teircero surdo).
We provide drums with hide or plastic heads at the same price. They sound much better with hide heads which can be very long lasting if looked after, but hide heads are more expensive to replace.
These drums are made by craftsmen from Artcelsior or King in Rio de Janeiro, for the Rio samba schools.
